ASSESSMENT INSTRUCTIONS

Overview

Prior to
commencing the assessments your assessor will explain each task and the terms
and submission of your task. Please
consult your assessor if you are unsure of any questions. It is important that
you understand adhere to the terms and conditions and addresses fully each
task. If any task I not fully address
than your assessment task will not be marked. The assessor will support you
throughout this process.

Written work

The
assessment tasks are used to measure your understanding and underpinning skills
and knowledge of this unit of competency.
When answering please ensure you address each criteria and sub point,
demonstrate your research each of the questions and cover the topic in a
logical and structured manner.

Active participation

It is a
condition of enrolment that you actively participate in your studies. Active participation is completing all tasks
on time. If you do not participate you will be required to report to Student
Services Coordinator

Plagiarism

Plagiarism
is taking and using someone else’s thoughts, writings or inventions and
representing them as your own.
Plagiarism is a serious act and may result in a student’s exclusion from
a course. When you have any doubts about including the work of other authors in
your assessment, please consult your trainer/assessor. The following list outlines some of the
activities for which a student can be accused of plagiarism:

Presenting any work by another individual as one’s own
unintentionally

Handing in assessments markedly similar to or copied from another
student

Presenting the work of another individual or group as their own
work

Handing in assessments without the adequate acknowledgement of

If it is
identified that you have plagiarised within your assessment task, then we will
organise a meeting to discuss this with you.

Copyright

You must be
careful when copying the work of others. The owner of the material may take
legal action against you if the owner’s copyright has been infringed. You are allowed to do a certain amount of
copying for research or study purposes. Generally, 10% or one chapter of a book
is acceptable, where the participant is studying with, or employed by, an
educational institution.

Competency Outcome

There are
two outcomes of assessments: S=Satisfactory and NS = Not Satisfactory. You will be awarded C=Competent if you have
completed all tasks.

Assessment appeals process

If you feel
that you have been unfairly treated during the assessment and you are not happy
with your assessment and you are unhappy with the outcome you have a right to
lodge an appeal. You must first discus
with your trainer/assessor. If you would like to proceed further with the
request you need to lodge an appeal to the Course Coordinator in writing
outlining the reason(s) for the appeal.

Special Needs

Candidate
with special needs will have their request for adjusts to suit these needs
addressed immediately.

Application of the unit

This unit
applies to all managers and team leaders who manage people. It covers work
allocation and the methods to review performance, reward excellence and provide
feedback where there is a need for improvement. The unit makes the link between
performance management and performance development, and reinforces both
functions as a key requirement for effective managers. This is a unit that all managers/prospective
managers who have responsibility for other employees should strongly consider undertaking.

Assessment task 1:Communication

Instructions to the students

This Task will establish your
understanding of how to communicate organisational mission and goals to
relevant individuals or groups. It is
important that you read each question carefully and provide detailed answers in
the spaces provided.

You can research the answers
using your workbook or on the Internet however your answers must be in your own
words.

Please note: that you may be
required to conductadditional research to complete this activity such as
locating extra reading material on the Internet.

Your assessor will be checking
that your work is your own and not copied from any other student’s who have or
are studying this unit of competency.

This
activity may be completed in small groups or with our assessor.

You are
required to read the Scenario 1 in conjunction with the “Flinders One Sport
Rugby Club” strategic plan complete the following steps:

Step 1)
Discuss the Agenda items at the meeting to formulate solutions

Step 2)
Take minutes of the meeting to use in Step 3

Step 3)
Prepare a report for your assessor addressing all of the points in
the Agenda

NOTE:
handwritten discussion notes from your group meeting can be submitted
however the report findings from your meeting need to be submitted typewritten.

Scenario 1

You are
the Manager of theFlinders University One Sport Rugby Club. The oldest Rugby Club in the Southern Cross
Rugby Union competition. The majority of our members are university students
between the ages of

18 – 23 years. Our membership ranges from 18 to over 40’s and a small
but growing women’s membership.

The Flinders One
Sport Rugby Club has four teams:

  • First Grade
  • Reserve Grade
  • Under 19’s
  • Women

You have
been involved in a number of meetings with stakeholders and a strategic plan
has been developed. It is 6 months out
from the commencement of the Rugby season and the Club requires you to begin
to implement the Strategic Plan. You need to communicate the organisational
mission and goals to all relevant stakeholders as well as the general public
as part of the promotion of The Club.

To begin
you will need to convene a meeting of all the relevant managers and
supervisors to discuss all of the items on the Agenda (below). Discuss all of the points with your team to
establish how you will communicate the organisation’s Mission and Goals.

Scenario 2

Your
meeting with managers and supervisor has been very productive and you have
established a platform from which to begin.

Scenario 4

You have received a letter from the District Rugby
Union Association of which the Flinders One Sport discovered a discrepancy in
your accounting with regard to the local Rugby Union Association to which you
pay membership fees. Upon further
investigation you discover that there appears to be payments made to the
Association and you are unsure why this debt has occurred.

Looking further into the accounts, you discover that
the cheques for the fees have been drawn and signed for by your treasurer and
the cheques have been honored.

Upon speaking to the Treasurer, they have broken down
and informed you that due to some financial difficulties personally they
cashed the cheques and used the money for personal reasons.
